Poetic Sunrise

The morning sunlight

floods me with rays of

inspiration, but by the

time my sleepy eyes

adjust and I allow the

warmth to soak into

my skin, I am left only

with empty thoughts

and lost words—relics

of the beams only float

around the surface,

leaving me to fill in the

vacant patches of darkness

myself, until the next

morning when I try to grasp

the flicker before it slips from

the window of my thoughts.
