Drowning

The overwhelming day weighs down on my body

Like I’m trying to run through water, though I move

As fast as I can, I only progress a few inches, until I

Move slower and slower, getting distracted by my

Heavy limbs, only to feel You lift me up out of the

Water and safely place me on the clear path—Though

This happens a thousand times a day, the water still

Tries to envelop me, but slowly my drowning haze

Faints away until all that remains is You.

Great poem. Kind of feel like that today.

  2. This is exactly how living above the 45th parallel felt to me. All the clouds and the thin, watery light, even in summer. I know this isn’t what you mean here. It is what I heard: A reminder that following my hear to a better place for me was the right thing to do.
