Change

I thought I wanted the past to stay in the past,

but then I saw your name;

I hadn’t seen your name in a year, I forgot

how much I liked it.

I thought moving on was the most important thing,

but when I took a step back,

I realized all the things I overlooked before, like

how your face looks in the light.

I thought being apart was the logical thing to do,

but after we felt something that day,

I noticed I was falling in love with you all over again, I knew

I was alright with it.

I thought fourteen was too young to meet someone,

but when we finally saw what was always there,

we were sure the past is not always meant to stay in the past, but instead

it builds a foundation to a beautiful future.
